Kenyan retailer Tuskys has entered into an agreement with the leading logistics partner Sendy to curb cornavirus spread by delivering orders to their customers’ doorstep.
According to a press release by Turskys yesterday, the supermarket with the help of Sendy will see congestion at Tusker Mattresses Limited minimized as clients will only need to place orders from home and have them delivered within the shortest time possible.
The move by the two companies comes after the Ministry of Health confirmed a Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) case in Nairobi. The case, which was confirmed on the 12th March 2020, was the first one to be reported in Kenya since the beginning of the outbreak in China in December 2019. Two more cases have been confirmed with the government urging its citizens to avoid crowded places, and minimize both internal and external travels.
The supermarket stated that clients will need to follow these simple steps in purchasing the groceries for delivery: send their shopping list to Tuskys branch email or WhatsApp, including name, contact, details, and physical address, Tuskys will then respond with the total bill, and till number for client to complete the payment, upon confirmation, packaging will be done and picked up by an authorized Sendy rider who will deliver to the clients doorstep.
Doorstep deliveries will play a crucial role in such a time when the country is in a partial lockdown after President Uhuru Kenyatta announced the closure of schools, and imposed sweeping travel restrictions. The supermarket will later roll out the program to all outlets in line with the retailer’s growth strategy.
