Zoho has recently forged a strategic alliance with J-Hub Africa, the digital innovation hub affiliated with Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), aiming to provide comprehensive support to emerging innovators and entrepreneurs. The primary objective of this collaboration is to encourage the widespread adoption of technology among young innovators and fledgling startups.
Veerakumar Natarajan, the Country Head of Zoho Kenya, expressed the significance of community growth and value delivery to customers through their solutions. He emphasized their commitment to localized product development, ensuring businesses can seamlessly utilize their solutions while adhering to both local and global regulations.
In the context of this partnership with J-Hub Africa, Zoho has committed to supporting individuals and startups associated with the hub. This support includes the provision of Zoho Wallet Credits, with amounts reaching up to KES 100,000. These credits offer the flexibility to purchase any of Zoho’s cloud products.
Moreover, Zoho aims to enhance the technological capabilities of JKUAT students by providing training sessions focused on leveraging cloud-based business technology for competitive advantages. The training encompasses various Zoho products, including Zoho Creator—a low code platform facilitating the creation of custom apps for diverse business needs. Additionally, students will receive guidance on Zoho CRM, a platform for managing sales and marketing, and Zoho Books, which aids companies in financial management while ensuring compliance with TIMS and VAT regulations. This upskilling initiative is designed to equip students with valuable technology skills applicable across diverse industries when they enter the workforce.
Dr. Lawrence Nderu, Chairman of the Department of Computing at JKUAT, expressed enthusiasm about the transformative journey with Zoho. He highlighted the collaboration’s potential to significantly enhance the innovation landscape within and beyond the JKUAT campus. Furthermore, Dr. Nderu emphasized that this alliance provides IT division students with opportunities to acquire technical skills aligned with various business functions, aligning with the institution’s commitment to integrating practical skillsets into the academic curriculum. This initiative aims to ensure students are well-prepared to navigate and excel in the continuously evolving tech industry.
