Kenya being one of the Expo 2020 Dubai participants is striving to maximize the opportunity that will give the country a worldwide market as over 200 countries have confirmed participation.
The ‘World’s Greatest Show’ will be live for six months running from 20th October 2020 to 21st April 2021.
Preferred Hub
The East African country which has been Dubai’s preferred trade hub in the region has over 60,000 Kenyans living and working in the United Arab Emirates and mainly in Dubai.
The Head of Dubai Chamber International Office-Kenya, Michael Gathu, stated during a panel discussion in Nairobi that East Africa is strategic for Dubai. However, every country is strategically positioning itself for the expose depending on what they have to offer.
For this reason, Kenya hopes to work together with their Diaspora country men and women to make their participation a success.
Diaspora Meeting
“We are planning to bring together Kenyans in the UAE in a meeting to discuss how they can participate in the 173 days programme.” The PS for Trade, Dr. Chris Kiptoo revealed during the discussions.
The State Department for Trade hopes to haves Kenyans in UAE’s Diaspora act as their eyes and ears on the ground as they also scout for opportunities.
The diasporas will also be key in showcasing merchandise of traders who cannot afford to travel to Dubai but would still consider to have their products showcased.
Branding for the Expo
Brand.KE has committed to helping our local traders to brand their products for marketing as Kenyan products including building a brand.ke website.
Dubai’s Expo 2020 is also looking for volunteers who are UAE nationals or residents to help facilitate the show for a of 10 shifts or more within a two-month period.
