A Canadian immigration agency has come forth and warned on an ongoing fraud activity in which unsuspecting Kenyans are being robbed of their money in exchange for fake visas.
According to Beaver Immigration Consulting Agency, the group of fraudsters makes a minimum of Sh150 million from conning 150 unsuspecting people who are promised of job opportunities in Canada.
“The scheme has been targeting not only low-income households seeking greener pastures abroad but the very wealthy,” the agency warns in a statement.
Nicholas Avramis, a regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant, happens to have fallen prey in the hands of the fraudsters, stated: “I am very frustrated as I continue to get calls from people that have been scammed. This is a global problem with Canadian immigration in general. It is prevalent in India and China, but now the fraudsters are moving into the African region to rip people off.”
According to Avramis, the fraudsters will first promise to acquire a visa for the client, for a job opportunity in Canada, an open work permit in that matter, and or they will lie to the client that they will ensure they attain an employment letter for them so to be able to work in Canada. Notably, Open work permits are only given to citizens of Canada.
