Kenya’s Ambassador to South Sudan, Chris Mburu, is dead. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ambassador died on Sunday night after suffering a heart attack.
“For now, all we know is that the envoy suffered a heart attack. We are trying to get finer details, and we shall communicate in the due cause,” a ministry official said.
The envoy had left the country on Sunday to Juba after accompanying President Salvar Kiir for the state funeral of the late former president Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi.
According to sources in Juba, the envoy spend his Sunday afternoon in hospital as he was not feeling well since morning.
“Tests indicate high blood pressure, and creatinine was high, an indication of a kidney anomaly,” the source said.
President Uhuru Kenyatta nominated the diplomat in July 2018 in changes affecting the diplomatic service.
