Kenya stood magical at the twenty-fifth Africa edition of the World Travel Awards (WTA) ceremony as it scooped several awards.
During the prestigious event that was held in the Port City of Durban, South Africa, Kenya’s hospitality facilities were the continent’s big winners coming top in several categories.
Maasai Mara, which houses the eighth wonder of the world, the wildebeest migration was named Africa’s leading national Park.
Diani Beach in Lamu was, for the fifth time in a row, recognized as the continent’s best beach. This is alongside Diani Reef Beach Resort and Spa that also maintained its grip as Africa’s leading beach resort.
While reacting to the recognition, an elated Diani Reef Beach Resort and Spa Managing director Bobby Kamani, said that the achievements came as a result of efforts in upgrading their products as well as enhancing service level.
” A state of the art of conference facility which is the largest has also been an added benefit to conference delegates visiting the region. We remain highly indebted to those who voted for us, and we look forward to welcoming you all back to your homie in Diani,” Kamani said.
Other notable winners included the national carrier, Kenya Airways, which was named the continents leading airline in both business and economy classes.
Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Laikipia County won Africa’s leading conservation company award while Nairobi’s Villa Rosa Kempinski was named the continent’s leading luxury hotel.
Fairmount Mount Kenya Safari Club and Bonfire Adventures were ranked Africa’s leading hotel and travel agency respectively.
Pollmans Tours and Safaris scooped the award of Africa’s leading tour operator while Olare Mara Kempinski was named the leading luxury tented camp.
Kenya Tourism Board Chief Executive Officer Betty Radier is confident that the listing is a plus for Kenya and shows visitors’ confidence in Kenya’s hospitality and tourism industry.
WTA globally acknowledges, celebrates and rewards excellence across all critical sectors in the travel, hospitality and travel industry.
