Kenya Airways which has in the previous worked with the Aircraft Leasing Services (ALS), will see the ALS fly through the Mogadishu,Somali route on their behalf.
ALS and Kenya Airways once had a similar arrangement in which the ALS flew from Nairobi to Lokichogio.
The first flight will depart from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport Terminal 2E at 13:00 with a capacity of 50 economy class,to land in Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu at 14:45 daily.
Kenya Airways CEO Sebastian Mikosz added that Kenya Airways seeks to support the continents Socio-Economic integration and development and therefore, the new route will serve a significant role in achieving this through easing travel problem doe the thousand Somalis living in Kenya and diaspora.
“Introducing more destination on the African continent is amajor development and achievement for the airline as part of our strategy,which sets growth on the African continent as one of our key objectives. We look forward to facilitating more commerce opportunities to and from Somalia with this new route, and to provide our guests with the award-winning Pride of Africa experience,” he added.
The flights will help people to be able to connect to and from a various destination in Africa, Far East, and even the US through the use of Kenya Airways which flies 53 destinations worldwide, 43 of them being in Africa.
