Kenyan multi-billion-shilling Standard-Gauge Railway (SGR) ranked high in the previous survey done by a British media on the world’s most magnificent rail tours for 2019.

From the survey, Madaraka Express passenger train service which was opened in mid-2017 ranked among 13 most remarkable rail tours in the world.

It was ranked seventh globally in a survey on the world’s most magnificent rail tours for 2019 conducted and published by The Telegraph, one of Britain’s oldest and most respected media outlets.

Some of the spectacular sceneries found between the Nairobi and Mombasa terminals are Amboseli and Tsavo West national parks, Mt. Kilimanjaro view from Amboseli Serena Lounge, and the Nairobi National Park which the rail cuts through.

On top of the list is Sweden’s Inlandsbanan traversing through forest and lakes, followed by Flying Scotsman of Britain, Eurostar connecting London with cities like Amsterdam, Avignon, Brussels, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Paris, and Rotterdam.

Notably, Kenyan SGR was the only African railway to appear in the list.
