A Kenyan born Immigrant in the United States has been voted the 2019 district teacher of the year in Clarendon School District 1, South Carolina.
Martin Mburu moved to the US a decade ago and has emerged as the teacher of the year for his outstanding ability to use technology in class.
Some of the key factors that have seen Mburu elevate to this position include his ability to employ Green screen tech, flipped classroom, animation, 3D technology, computer programming, podcasting, virtual reality and music videos something which has led to improved relationship with the students.
Mburu will now compete with over 60,000 applicants for the state of South Carolina’s teacher of the year.
Mburu studied at Kenya Technical Training College, Egerton University as well as Kenyatta University.
