One of the major South African retailers Shoprite has plans to expand and open new outlets in Mombasa and Nairobi. The new outlet is set to be opened at in City Mall Mombasa and unidentified mall in Nairobi.
The new supermarkets will be an addition to the current existing outlets in Garden City Mall and Westgate Mall.
According to General Manager Andrew Mweemba, the new supermarket, will provide its customers with an extensive range of quality products ranging from electronics, groceries and other home products imported from different countries across the globe.
The supermarket will also have a cafeteria for customers who will opt to take food prepared from the supermarket.
Mr. Andrew Mweemba added that the supermarket has a lot of potential operating in Kenya. He further said that they have positive expectations about the prospect of expanding as it will provide employment opportunities and contribute to the Kenyan economy.
“A lease agreement has been concluded with The Karen Waterfront and the Group will follow up on other opportunities as they become available. Shoprite sees a lot of potential in the country and is excited about the prospect of expanding its footprint over time,” a statement stated.
