The British government has announced new regulations for passengers traveling from Kenya to the country to adhere.
In a statement, travelers from Kenya should obtain a covid19 test certificate within 72 hours before departure.
The changes comes after the UK experienced an increase in the number of Covid19 infections, leading to a lockdown. The new strain of the virus is said to be 70 percent more contagious than the previous.
Besides, passengers to the UK will be required to provide contact details on arrival to ease contact tracing.
On the other hand, Kenya has refused to consider such stringent measures arguing that the UK was doing severe screening for the travelers getting in and out of the country and hence no need.
“We as a country do not see any need to close our airspace due to the new variant; in fact, a country such as Britain is doing the serious screening, so we are not in danger as a country,” Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said last month.
The UK has bared flights from 11 African countries from jetting in the country beginning last week 9th over the new COVID19 variant.
The bared country includes Zimbabwe, Namibia, Swaziland, Botswana, Malawi, Zambia, Lesotho, Mozambique, and Mauritius Angola, and Seychelles.
