Kenyan fintech startup Kwara has been selected among 11 other global startups to join the award-winning Start Path Program by Mastercard.
The program’s objective is to help startups maximize their opportunities for success during the six months they will be under the program learning from Mastercard.
Cynthia Wandia, Kwara’s CEO, said, “We are honored to join forces with Mastercard and work on our shared vision to create financial inclusion for 1 billion people. We have seen how companies such as Flutterwave and Revolut have expanded their services in partnership with one of the biggest payment technology companies in the world.
We are certain we can deepen our offering and together transform credit unions across emerging markets into modern, digital banks.”
Senior Vice President, Fintech & Enablers, Amy Neale added that “When fintech companies thrive, we all benefit. We’re excited for Kwara to join the Mastercard Start Path program. They’ll receive access to our technology, customers and mentorship to accelerate their journey to grow and scale.”
Other startups joining the program are Finmod, Flourish Savings, GenEQTY, Karri, KeyChain Pay, Layer, Osper, Swap, upSWOT, and Wellthi.
Mastercard has so far mentored over 260 startups since it launched the Start Path in 2014. Over $5 billion were raised in the capital during the same period to assist the startups in reaching greater heights.
