The United States President, Donald Trump has confirmed that the raids of undocumented immigrants are set to start this month.
“We will be removing large numbers of people starting sometime after July 4,” Trump said
The President made the remarks while at a press conference on Saturday following the G-20 summit in Japan.
Earlier, the president had called off the raid plan targeting over 2,000 families living in about 10 cities in the United States without legal documents.
The two-week postponement came after an outcry by the Democrats to have the raid postponed. Various countries are set to be affected by the new directive set to take effect on 4th July as they have their citizens living in the US.
In a tweet, the US President criticized congressional Democrats for failing to hold a vote to eliminate “loopholes” and taking steps to “fix” the American asylum policies.
“Next week ICE will begin the process of removing the millions of illegal aliens who have illicitly found their way into the United States. They will be removed as fast as they come in. Mexico, using their strong immigration laws, is doing a very good job of stopping people…….” tweeted Trump on 18th July this year.
“…. long before they get to our Southern Border. Guatemala is getting ready to sign a Safe-Third Agreement. The only ones who won’t do anything are the Democrats in Congress. They must vote to get rid of the loopholes, and fix asylum! If so, Border Crisis will end quickly!” Read another tweet
