Retail shop Tuskys has opened its latest store at the cost of Sh20 million at the Crossroads Mall in high-value Karen estate.
The new store will focus on offering a variety of affordable products specifically farm foods which are sourced from traceable farms.
“At Tuskys’ Karen Branch, we have chosen to pursue a different and unique approach as we seek to penetrate the high spend of the Kenyan retail market. In Karen, we decided to be the first to answer to the call of providing food which we know how it has been grown and whose traceability we can account for,” said Tusker Mattresses Group CEO Dan Githua.
Mr. Githua says the supermarket has entered into a partnership with known organic farmers from the market to deliver attractive and products and services to their customers.
Among the farm products to be sold at the new outlet include tea, coffee, vegetables, bakery and cereals measured in quantities as per the customers’ demands.
The new outlet is a gradual realization of the retailer’s strategy which it revealed during the launch of its 64th branch at the new Diamond Plaza II Shopping complex. During that launch, Mr. Githua had revealed the supermarket’s plans to open more doors in Karen, Thika Road, Kitisuru and Kiambu road environs.
Tusker Mattresses which operates both Tuskys Supermarkets and Mavazi Lifestyle clothing stores has set its sights on a 100 branches strong network in the next three years. The group which already has branches in both Kenya and Uganda looks to shake off competition from other retail operators.
