Poverty level has been rampant in Isiolo and its environs but now expected to reduce significantly after a group of professionals in the area came together to form a Sacco that’s geared towards creating wealth in the area.
Mfinyanzi Sacco brings together bodaboda Operators, Vegetable vendors, shop owners, among other professionals in the area, creating a pool of wealth accessible to the area residents.
According to the chairperson, Lucy Wanjiru, the Sacco will help in the enhancement of financial inclusion alleviating in poverty in the region.
The Sacco will offer loan services to the residents, which they can use to expand their businesses and also helping them open savings accounts for a better future.
The newly found Sacco had their recruitment drive this year in which they targeted stall owners, grocers, bodaboda riders, farmers, livestock keepers, professionals like teachers, among others.
The Sacco is set to make it easier for the residents to access services that were quite a challenge to access before as that was one of the significant purposes of establishing it, the chairperson highlighting that it will also help youth in the area who hire bodabodas with intentions of saving to buy their own in the near future.
The Sacco has also been backed to help unite various ethnic groups in the county.
