The U.S. Embassy in Nairobi has issued a travel alert for U.S. citizens who wish to leave the Country to do so Wednesday night saying there shall be no other opportunity to leave soon.
The U.S. Embassy, through its tweets, that “We understand from the Kenyan government that there are no plans for flights after midnight tonight (Wednesday). If you wish to depart Kenya, this will be your last opportunity for an indefinite period.”
The Embassy further notified the citizens that the Kenya Airways would have a direct flight to the U.S. for U.S. citizens and U.S. Lawful Permanent Residents departing the Country tonight at 2100 hours as long as it will be able to have enough clients for the flight.
Clients will need to part with $3350 for economy class and $4000 for business class tickets to John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York. Willing clients are requested to do the bookings immediately as only a few hours remain for the process to be closed.
According to the Embassy, the decision is informed by the March 22 announcement by the Government of Kenya, indicating it plans to suspend all international flights in and out of Kenya effective midnight Wednesday night.
