The Kenya Immigration Department on Wednesday asked foreigners with expired residency and permits to consider renewing their documents as from April 13.
Making the announcement, Alexander Muteshi, the Director-General for Immigration, stated that the services would be offered through an online platform with foreign nationals having to create a portal.
According to Muteshi, a portal for foreign nationals is mandatory for one to be able to renew the expired passes and residency permits.
The Department seeks to help foreigners stuck in the country due to travel restrictions imposed by the government to curb the coronavirus from spreading.
The Immigration Department will be notifying the applicant upon renewal approval. The applicant should print the notification and use it as an official document when asked to.
Those making new applications for citizenship or permits will be required to submit relevant documents in a drop box at the immigration headquarters in Nairobi.
“Application forms for permits, passes, citizenship, and multiple journey visa applied online may be placed at the drop box located at Nyayo House,” said Muteshi.
“You are advised to place the payment receipt, invoices, security bond, and approval acknowledgments.”
