Peter Musila 2 years ago

The Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) awarded as Africa’s Leading Meetings and Conference destination in Africa whereas Nairobi was named as Africa’s Leading Business Travel Destination.

“We are honoured to receive these awards. The awards truly attest to the fact that Nairobi and KICC offer the best MICE experience in the region,” said KICC Chief Executive Officer, Ms Nana Gecaga, who was in Mauritius to receive the accolades.

“To win such a prestigious international award is a huge boost and motivation for the Tourism sector. This award goes out to all of us in the meetings industry who work tirelessly to ensure that we are at the top of our game.”

The building was highly voted for hence beating other nominees in the same category; the likes of Cairo Convention Centre in Egypt, Cape Town Convention Centre in South Africa, Durban Convention Centre in South Africa, Kigali Convention Centre in Rwanda, Palais Des Congress Marrakech in Morocco, and Sandton Convention Centre in South Africa.

The award was previously held by the Durban Convention Center which has been the winner for nine years in a raw, till this year with this being KICC’s first time to participate.

The award will play a key role for the country in boosting the conferences and exhibitions as the country embarks on jerking conference and conventions facilities.

On the other hand, Nairobi outcompeted Durban, Cape Town and Kigali to win Africa’s Leading Business Travel Destination.
