Kenyan expat Yvonne Owuor, who currently lives and work in Milton Keynes, United Kingdom, was on Friday, October 12, feted with this year’s Women Leaders Award in the Community Impact Voluntary category.
The former Kenya Airways (KQ) employee was nominated into the category for her charitable work in and around the environs of Milton Keynes in Buckinghamshire.
Yvonne who currently works as a Major Projects Advisor at NHBC, a leading warranty, and insurance provider for new homes, had traveled to the UK to study Travel and Tourism where she graduated with a first-class degree from the University of West London. She later moved on to study a Masters in Political Science at the Royal Holloway University.
Despite her tight work schedule, the former KQ attendant had, during her free times, volunteered in many charitable commitments including; Food Bank, Work Tree, World Vision, Community Action MK and Habitat for Humanity.
While responding to the good news, the mother of one said she was “Over the Moon” following the night’s success that will put her forward for the CBI award.
Before her nominations for the awards, Yvonne had been described as having an energy and resilience that was contagiously enabling her to deliver in any engagement she undertook successfully.
“Although she is fairly new in Milton Keynes, she is already making a positive impact in the community by continuously promoting best practice in everything she does with continuous energy and perseverance,” read the description.
