“The renewal of the Nescafé plan follows the successes made in our earlier two phases where we invested over Sh70million. On average, the Farmers’ Cooperative Societies recorded a 12 per cent rise in coffee production while the quantity of coffee produced per tree by farmers who partially adopted the good agricultural practices increased from 2.5 kilos per tree to up-to 7kilos per tree between 2011 and 2018,” said Ng’entu
According to the director, close to 18,000 coffee farmers will be benefited by the third phase of the program. The phase will see 5,300 farmers and mostly women being trained on how to grow coffee in an efficient way for more yields.
